Regular Season Round 17: Beijing - Henan 97-115

NBL top team - Henan (14-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat eleventh ranked Beijing (6-11) 115-97. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Beijing. The game was mostly controlled by Henan. Beijing was better in fourth quarter 31-30. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Henan forced 27 Beijing turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) nailed 36 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winning side and American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) accounted for 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Henan players scored in double figures. American center Michael Holyfield (211-92, college: Sam Houston St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 23 rebounds and 4 blocks and power forward Yunan Liu (205-94) added 32 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Beijing in the defeat. Henan maintains first place with 14-3 record. Beijing at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Henan will play against Luoyang (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Beijing will play against Jiangsu L. (#13) in He Fei and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
