Regular Season Round 3: Pinheiros - Franca 76-90

An exciting game was played in Sao Paolo. Vivo/Franca faced Pinheiros. Guests from Sao Paulo (4-0) defeated host Pinheiros (2-2) 90-76. The game was mostly controlled by Vivo/Franca. Pinheiros was better in third quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vivo/Franca forced 22 Pinheiros turnovers. Strangely Pinheiros outrebounded Vivo/Franca 40-28 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Antonio Ferreira (200-94) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Joao-Pedro Demetrio (208-95) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Germerson Barbosa (202-93) came up with 24 points and 5 rebounds and forward Arthur Bernardi (206-90, college: Houston Baptist) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Pinheiros in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pinheiros' coach Cesar Guidetti tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vivo/Franca's next round opponent will be Osasco B. (#8) at home and are hoping to win another game. Pinheiros will play against America (#7) and hope to win that game.
