Al-Muharraq used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Nuwaidrat 75-66 on Tuesday night. Al-Muharraq outrebounded Al-Nweidrat 44-28 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for Australian center Aleksandar Maric (211-84, college: Nebraska) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 17 rebounds. Ahmed Aldurazi contributed with 20 points for the winners. Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and Hassan Madan added 15 points and 5 assists in the effort for Al-Nweidrat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Al-Muharraq will face Al-Riffa (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Al-Nweidrat will play against Isa Town and hope to win that game.
