Regular Season Round 1: Maree - Moycullen 63-88

Another exciting game was played in Galway between Moycullen and Maree where Moycullen (1-0) crushed Maree (0-1) on the road with 25-point difference 88-63. Moycullen outrebounded Maree 50-38 including a 43-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Brandon McGuire (193, college: Moravian) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard James Loughnane (175-89) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Point guard Eoin Rockall (185-98) answered with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and international Kenneth Hansberry added 8 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Maree. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Moycullen will play against DCU Saints (#8) in Dublin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maree will play on the road against Belfast Star to get more than just one victory in their record.
