Regular Season Round 1: Vive El Masnou - Cantaires Tortosa 66-61

Vive El Masnou used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Tortosa 66-61 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 13-11. But Cantaires Tortosa won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vive El Masnou forced 19 Cantaires Tortosa turnovers. Center Jordi Catalan (200-90) fired 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Ferran Valle (180-89) chipped in 16 points. Four Vive El Masnou players scored in double figures. American swingman Joel Kindred (193-91, college: St.Augustine) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Sean McDonnell (203, college: Westmont) added 16 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Vive El Masnou will face Girona Basquet on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cantaires Tortosa will play against Mataro Parc Boet (#3) and hope to win that game.
