Very predictable result when top-ranked Waregem (4-0) defeated on the road 9th ranked Gent Hawks (1-3) 91-84 on Saturday. Waregem made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Strangely Gent Hawks outrebounded Waregem 26-12 including a 20-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. Swingman Brecht Guillemyn (192-87) fired 22 points for the winners. Power forward Aaron Van-Vooren (200-94) chipped in 18 points. Power forward Joren Vermoessen (201-93) produced 27 points and 7 rebounds and forward Gregory De-Pooter (197-84) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Waregem and four Gent Hawks players scored in double figures. Waregem have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Soba. Gent Hawks lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with three games lost. Waregem will meet at home Gistel Oostende (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gent Hawks will play against Ieper and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
