Regular Season Round 2: CD Castro - Osorno 95-86

CD Castro used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Osorno 95-86 on Sunday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-18. But Osorno Basquetbol won second period 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CD Castro looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Osorno Basquetbol was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Gary Johnson (198-88, college: Texas) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import forward Trevante Drye (199-93, college: Tulane) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Four CD Castro players scored in double figures. CD Castro's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) produced 28 points and 7 rebounds and international forward Juan Fontena (196-87) added 21 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. CD Castro will face Espanol de Talca (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Osorno Basquetbol will play against Los Leones and hope to win that game.
