Regular Season Round 4: Maree - UCC Demons 70-93

Bottom-ranked Maree (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-70 loss to third ranked UCC Demons (3-1) in Galway on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. UCC Demons looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international point guard Kyle Hosford (175-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists and forward Carleton Cuff (190-87) who added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side international Kenneth Hansberry responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Eoin Rockall (185-98) scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maree's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. UCC Demons moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Maree still closes the standings with four games lost. UCC Demons will meet Templeogue (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maree will play against the league's leader UCD Marian in Dublin and hopes to get finally their first victory.
