But San Juan was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Algeciras 88-73 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Algeciras. San Juan was better in fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Algeciras shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. It was a good game for center Jose Maria Balmon (204-81) who led his team to a victory with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. American Michael Murray (196-91, college: Coppin St.) contributed with 27 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Antonio Rodriguez (185-78) answered with 15 points and forward Samuel Ceada (198-91) added 9 points in the effort for San Juan. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Algeciras will face Sevilla 2 (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
