Regular Season Round 4: Chalons-Reims - Chalon 103-97
Date: October 7, 2017
No shocking result in a game when eleventh ranked Chalons-Reims (2-2) beat at home bottom-ranked Chalon/Saor (0-4) 103-97 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Chalons-Reims made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. It was a very good performance for Icelandic guard Martin Hermannsson (190-94, college: LIU Brooklyn) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Ed Daniel (203-90, college: Murray St.) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Cameroonian Jeremy Nzeulie (188-91) replied with 18 points and 5 assists and American point guard Adam Smith (185-92, college: Georgia Tech) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for Chalon/Saor. Five Chalons-Reims and four Chalon/Saor players scored in double figures. Chalon/Saor's coach rotated nineteen players in this game, but that didn't help. Chalons-Reims moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 6 other teams. Defending champion Chalon/Saor still closes the standings with four games lost. Chalons-Reims will face Boulazac Basket (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chalon/Saor will play against JDA Dijon and hopes to get finally their first victory.
