Regular Season Round 2: Hitachi Cougars - Chanson V-M 54-81

Very important is a home loss of Hitachi Cougars (1-1) against Chanson V-M (1-1) on Sunday night. Host Hitachi Cougars were crushed by Chanson V-M in Hitachinaka 81-54. The game was mostly controlled by Chanson V-M. Hitachi Cougars was better in third quarter 15-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chanson V-M dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 34 and made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game, while Hitachi Cougars only scored five points from the stripe. Chanson V-M forced 20 Hitachi Cougars turnovers and outrebounded them 42-27 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. International forward Sanae Motokawa (175-92) had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international center Miyuki Kawamura (183-94) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Chanson V-M players scored in double figures. Power forward Chika Suzuki (183-93) responded with 11 points and the former international forward Reika Takahashi (177-88) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. Hitachi Cougars' coach Yabuuchi Natsumi gave up on the game allowing to play fifteen players seeing no chance for a win. Chanson V-M will play against Aishin Wings (#9) in Anjo in the next round. Hitachi Cougars will play at home against Yamanashi QB (#12) to get more than just one victory in their record.
