Regular Season Round 3: Estudiantes - Gipuzkoa GBC 75-92
Date: October 8, 2017
No shocking result in a game in Madrid where Gipuzkoa (2-1) defeated Movil Estudiantes (0-2) 92-75. The game was mostly controlled by Gipuzkoa. Movil Estudiantes was better in fourth quarter 29-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gipuzkoa dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Movil Estudiantes' 28. They outrebounded Movil Estudiantes 48-32 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. British power forward Daniel Clark (210-88) accounted for 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. American-Montenegrin point guard Omar-Sharif Cook (186-82, college: St.John's, agency: BeoBasket) came up with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Israeli swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) added 14 points respectively for Movil Estudiantes in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gipuzkoa's next round opponent will be UCAM Murcia (#12) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Movil Estudiantes will play against Burgos and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
