Regular Season Round 4: Pielagos - Zornotza 72-104

Pielagos (1-1) recorded its first loss in Renedo de Pielagos. Hosts were rolled over by top-ranked Zornotza (2-0) 104-72. It was a key game for the second position in Group A-A. The game was mostly controlled by Zornotza. Pielagos was better in second period 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Pielagos 40-23 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American guard Richaud Pack (191-92, college: Maryland) who scored that evening 29 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Duane Morgan (198-93, college: Adelphi) supported him with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Five Zornotza players scored in double figures. Even 23 points by American guard Ron Lee (188, college: Cent.Methodist) did not help to save the game for Pielagos. Power forward Sergio Iglesias (200-92) added 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zornotza moved-up to second place in Group A-A, which they share with 3 other teams. Pielagos at the other side dropped to the sixth position with one game lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Zornotza will play against Mondragon (#14) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Pielagos will play against La Fecha (#3) in Arroyo Encomienda to get more than just one victory in their record.
