Very predictable result when top-ranked Leon (2-0) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Gijon (0-2) 67-62 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-62. Worth to mention a great performance of Marcos Fernandez who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Colby Taylor (198-94, college: Central, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who added 12 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Malik Wineglass (203, college: Harris-Stowe St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and guard Jose-Augusto Soto (180-93) scored 15 points. Gijon's coach Fran Sanchez tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Leon keeps a position of Group A-B leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Gijon still closes the standings with two games lost. Leon will face Betanzos (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Gijon will play against Estudiantes L.
