Regular Season Round 5: Rosalia - Venta de Banos 77-57

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Santiago de Camp. where 11th ranked Venta de Banos (1-2) was crushed by twelfth ranked Rosalia (1-1) 77-57 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-57. Rosalia forced 26 Venta de Banos turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward Antonio Pantin (206-88, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals. Luis Lopez (189-96) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. American forward DeVaughn Jones (196, college: Midwestern St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Rafael Blanco (202-97) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Rosalia left bottom position moving up to eighth place in Group A-B, which they share with Obradoiro II and Innova Chef. Loser Venta de Banos dropped to the twelfth position with two games lost. Rosalia will face league's leader Carbajosa on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Venta de Banos will play against Chantada (#5) and hope to win that game.
