Regular Season Round 2: Cretan Kings - Koroivos 95-90

There was a surprise result in Rethymno where Cretan Kings (1-1) defeated Koroivos (1-1) 95-90. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Koroivos won third quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cretan Kings made 29-of-37 charity shots (78.4 percent) during the game. 32 personal fouls committed by Koroivos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Haralampos Giannopoulos (200-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Naturalized Cypriot Andreas Christodoulou (197-95) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Four Cretan Kings players scored in double figures. American guard Marcus Posley (185-94, college: St.Bonaventure) replied with 21 points and his fellow American import point guard Jahii Carson (178-92, college: Arizona St.) added 17 points and 5 assists in the effort for Koroivos. Koroivos' coach Nikos Kalabakos tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cretan Kings' next round opponent will be AEK (#4) in Athens. Koroivos will play at home against Kolossos HH and hope to win that game.
