Regular Season Round 1: Hapoel Afula - Maccabi K/G 83-100

An interesting game took place in Afula where Hapoel Afula (0-1) was upset on its own court by Maccabi K/G (1-0) 100-83 on Sunday. Maccabi K/G dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Afula's 34. They outrebounded Hapoel Afula 34-23 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi K/G especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 71.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international center Robert Rothbart (217-86, agency: Octagon Europe) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Keddric Mays (183-84) chipped in 25 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American point guard Travis Cohn (188-89, college: Jacksonville, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow the other American import import swingman Courtney Fells (197-86, college: N.Carolina St.) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Maccabi K/G will meet Hapoel B/S (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Afula will play against Maccabi Raanana and hope to win that game.
