Regular Season Round 3: Piacenza - Volpino 82-76

There was no surprise when Volpino (0-3) was defeated on the road by Piacenza (2-1) 82-76 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Piacenza dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Volpino's 32. Piacenza forced 20 Volpino turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for naturalized Argentinian point guard Nicolas Stanic (180-84, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 assists. The former international power forward Riccardo Perego (202-81) helped adding 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Edoardo Caversazio (199-96) with 14 points and 7 assists and swingman Francesco Gorreri (192-95) scored 19 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Piacenza will face Vicenza (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Volpino will play against Palermo GB (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
