Regular Season Round 5: Leon - Betanzos 74-64

Very predictable result when leader Leon (3-0) beat at home 8th ranked Betanzos (1-2) 74-64 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Leon. Betanzos was better in second period 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leon forced 21 Betanzos turnovers. The best player for the winners was Marcos Fernandez who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Colby Taylor (198-94, college: Central, agency: Dynamics Global Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Guillermo Pereiro (191-89) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and center Marcos Rozas (202-83) added 7 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Leon have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of Group A-B leader, which they share with Ponferrada CDP and Carbajosa. Loser Betanzos dropped to the eleventh place with two games lost. Leon will face Marin (#4) on the road in the next round. Betanzos will play against Estudiantes L. (#6) and hope to win that game.
