Regular Season Round 3: Korikouvot - FoKoPo 97-98

The most interesting game of round 3 was only one-point a home defeat of Korikouvot (1-2) to Forssan Koripojat (2-1) 98-97. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Korikouvot won third quarter 28-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Korikouvot outrebounded Forssan Koripojat 45-21 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forssan Koripojat shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. It was a great evening for American forward Juwan Howard-Jr (200-92, college: Detroit Mercy) who led his team to a victory scoring 39 points (!!!). His fellow American import guard John Merchant (187-89, college: Dowling) helped adding 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. The best for the losing side was swingman Teemu Knihtinen (195-98) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Severi Kaukiainen (185-98) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Korikouvot players scored in double figures. Forssan Koripojat is looking forward to face Jarvenpaa (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Korikouvot will play against Jyvaskyla BA (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
