Important game to mention about took place in Nuwaidrat. Third ranked Al-Nweidrat (5-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 8th ranked Al-Riffa (2-3) 68-65 on Wednesday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Al-Nweidrat dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Riffa's 16. They outrebounded Al-Riffa 30-19 including 24 on the defensive glass. Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84) had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and Hassan Madan chipped in 10 points, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was Husain Almoosawi with 8 points and Libyan Khalid Mohammed (-80) scored 6 points. Al-Nweidrat have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Al-Ahli and Al-Muharraq. Newly promoted Al-Riffa keeps the eighth place with three games lost. They share the position with Sitra. Al-Nweidrat will play against Al-Bahrain (#10) in Manama in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al-Riffa will play at home against Hidd and hopes to get back on the winning track.
