Regular Season Round 6: Sudety - Gornik Walbrzych 68-83

There was no surprise in Jelenia Gora where 9th ranked Sudety (2-4) was defeated by second ranked Gornik (5-1) 83-68 on Saturday. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Gornik outrebounded Sudety 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Marcin Wrobel (200-87) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Damian Durski (183-97) chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Five Gornik players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Jaroslaw Wilusz (200-85) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Rafal Niesobski (189-82) scored 18 points. Sudety's coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gornik have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group D with 5-1 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Syntex Ksiezak. Loser Sudety keeps the ninth place with four games lost. Gornik will face AZS KU PO (#4) in Opole in the next round. Sudety will play on the road against Gimbasket WRC (#8) in Wroclaw and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
