Regular Season Round 3: Akademik PL - Rilski 79-74 OT

Rilski (#7) forced the game against Academik Plovdiv (#1) into an overtime, but lost by five points 74-79 on Saturday night. Rilski was tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 4-9s. It was a great evening for American Manuel Johnson (202-83, college: Tex.A&M-Comm.) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Isiah Umipig (183-92, college: Seattle) helped adding 14 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Zlatin Georgiev (197-85) with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Travis Taylor (203-90, college: Xavier) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Academik Plovdiv will face Balkan in Botevgrad in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rilski will play at home against Spartak Pleven (#9) and hope to win that game.
