Regular Season Round 3: Ethnikos - Psychiko 64-51

We should mention about the upset which took place in Pireus, where Psychiko (1-2) lost to Ethnikos (2-1) in a road game 51-64. The game was mostly controlled by Ethnikos. Psychiko was better in third quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Psychiko to just 6 points in second quarter. Ethnikos had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Estonian point guard Rait-Riivo Laane (179-93) who led the winners and scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Kostas Macheras (205-85) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Center Nikos Tsiokos (207-91) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Thomas Nikou (185-80) added 5 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Psychiko in the defeat. Ethnikos' next round opponent will be Peristeri GS (#3) in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Psychiko will play at home against Doxa Lefkadas (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
