Regular Season Round 5: Coruna - Valladolid 59-67

Everything could happen in Coruna at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Blancos de Rueda and 12th ranked Leyma Basquet had identical 1-2 record. But Leyma Basquet was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Valladolid 67-59 on Saturday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-16. But Leyma Basquet won second period 13-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Blancos de Rueda dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Leyma Basquet's 18. The best player for the winners was center Sergio De-La-Fuente (198-89) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Henri Wade-Chatman (188-92, college: Edinboro) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. Point guard Jorge Sanz (188-93) produced 4 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and center Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca (212-83) added 7 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Blancos de Rueda (2-2) moved-up to eighth place. Loser Leyma Basquet dropped to the fifteenth position with three games lost. Blancos de Rueda will face higher ranked Oviedo CB (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leyma Basquet will play against CB Prat (#4) and hope to win that game.
