Regular Season Round 3: Mgzavrebi - Olimpi 73-89

Very significant was Olimpi's (#4) 16-point road victory against Mgzavrebi 89-73. Mgzavrebi was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 52-34 second half run of Olimpi. They made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 28 Mgzavrebi turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Olimpi brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Mikheil Tchotchua (193-87, agency: Octagon Europe) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Mark Ogden (206-94, college: Dixie St.) accounted for 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winning side. Four Olimpi players scored in double figures. American guard Deron Powers (183-92, college: Hofstra) came up with 21 points and point guard Sandro Sanadze (188-95) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Mgzavrebi in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpi will play against DELTA (#9) in Marneuli in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mgzavrebi will play at home against Batumi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
