Regular Season Round 7: Suduva-Mantinga - Silute 79-100

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Suduva-Mantinga (5-2) against eighth ranked Silute (4-3) on Friday night. Host Suduva-Mantinga was crushed by Silute in Marijampole 100-79. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Suduva-Mantinga. Silute dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Suduva-Mantinga's 40. Silute forced 23 Suduva-Mantinga turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Caleb Oetjen (183-94, college: Bethel, IN) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. Swingman Evaldas Dziaugys (196-96) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Silute players scored in double figures. Silute's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rokas Stankevicius (200-95) answered with 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Zygimantas Simonis (192-95) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Suduva-Mantinga. Silute moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Suduva-Mantinga at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Silute will play against higher ranked Neptunas-Akv. (#4) in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Suduva-Mantinga will play on the road against Zalgiris II in Kaunas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
