Regular Season Round 3: Vichy Clermont - Nantes 93-84

There was a surprise result when JA Vichy (1-2) defeated at home Nantes (1-2) 93-84 on Friday. Nantes trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 30-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 84-93 at the end of the game. JA Vichy forced 21 Nantes turnovers. Strangely Nantes outrebounded JA Vichy 44-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Kwamain Mitchell (178-89, college: St.Louis) who scored 18 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. His fellow American import guard Christopher Smith (193-94, college: Utah St., agency: 3Eye) chipped in 21 points. JA Vichy's coach Guillaume Vizade used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (200-88, college: Le Moyne) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and American point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Octagon Europe) added 22 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. JA Vichy will meet Poitiers (#11) on the road in the next round. Nantes will play against Denain Voltaire and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
