Regular Season Round 7: Langen - Kaiserslautern 70-51

Everything went according to plan when third ranked TV Langen (5-1) outplayed at home 10th ranked Kaiserslautern (4-3) 70-51 on Saturday. They outrebounded Kaiserslautern 49-31 including a 41-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. TV Langen looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Kaiserslautern's players. Quite impressive performance for point guard Maxim Schneider (184-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American forward Nick Smith (203-95, college: Belmont) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward John Barber (200-85, college: Youngstown St., agency: Mental Edge Basketball) answered with 11 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import power forward Aaron Ellis (205-87, college: Wichita St.) added 4 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Kaiserslautern. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for TV Langen. They moved-up to second place in South-West, which they share with Speyer. Loser Kaiserslautern dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. TV Langen will face Lich II (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Kaiserslautern will play against Limburg (#14) and hope to win that game.
