Regular Season Round 7: Aschersleben - Westerstede 124-60

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Westerstede (0-5) was outleveled on the road by leader Aschersleben (6-0) 124-60 on Saturday. Aschersleben dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Westerstede's 36. They outrebounded Westerstede 53-29 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Aschersleben looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Westerstede's players. It was a very good performance for Croatian Robert Kujundzic (202-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Tyaire Ponzo-Meek (180-94, college: Wilmington, DE) contributed with 28 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Aschersleben players scored in double figures. Point guard Bahir Karmand (185-93) answered with 25 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Franjo Borchers (190-93) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Westerstede. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Aschersleben. They maintain first place in North with 6-0 record, which they share with BSW Sixers. Westerstede lost their third game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Aschersleben will face ALBA-2 (#10) in Berlin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Westerstede will play at home against Bergedorf and hopes to get finally their first victory.
