Regular Season Round 5: Legia - GTK Gliwice 78-88

GTK has registered their first victory this season after four consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Warszawa, where they defeated Legia (0-6) 88-78. The game was mostly controlled by GTK. Legia was better in fourth quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Jonathan Williams (190-95, college: Toledo) nailed 29 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import center Maverick Morgan (208-94, college: Illinois) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Hunter Mickelson (208-92, college: Kansas, agency: 3Eye) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Lukasz Wilczek (190-86) added 5 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for Legia in the defeat. Four Legia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. GTK (1-4) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with AZS Koszalin. It was Legia's sixth loss in a row. Legia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with six games lost. GTK will play against league's second-placed Asseco in Gdynia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Legia will play on the road against the league's leader Anwil (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
