Regular Season Round 4: Papagou - Marousi 69-71

Very expected game when 12th ranked Papagou (1-3) was edged by sixth ranked Marousi (3-1) in Athens 71-69 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-69. Strangely Papagou outrebounded Marousi 42-25 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for guard Giorgos Sourlis (190-85) who helped to win the game recording 26 points. Orfeas Stasinos contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Marousi's coach Kostas Keramidas allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Center Petros Melissaratos (205-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and point guard Konstantinos Fakopoulidis (190-95) added 15 points and 6 assists in the effort for Papagou. Four Papagou players scored in double figures. Marousi moved-up to second place, which they share with Iraklis and Holargos. Papagou lost third consecutive game. Papagou at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth position with three games lost. Marousi will face Apollon Patras (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Papagou will play against AE Larissas and hope to win that game.
