PLK top team - Anwil (5-1) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Start (2-3) in Wloclawek 80-57. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-57. Anwil dominated on the defensive end, holding Start to just 7 points in third quarter. The best player for the winners was Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) who scored 18 points. The former international power forward Szymon Szewczyk (209-82) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Center Roman Szymanski (209-91, college: Colby CC) produced 7 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard James Washington (182-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 11 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anwil maintains first place with 5-1 record. Loser Start keeps the thirteenth position with three games lost. They share it with Miasto Szkla. Anwil will meet at home bottom-ranked Legia (#17) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Start will play against BM Slam Stal (#12) in Ostrow Wlkp. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
