Regular Season Round 6: Faenza - Rimini 91-59

Date: November 1, 2017
There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Faenza (3-3) crushed at home one of their biggest challengers Rimini (3-3) 91-59 on Wednesday. Faenza dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Rimini's 24 and made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Faenza looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for point guard Mattia Venucci (188-90) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Swingman Gioacchino Chiappelli (198-91, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Francesco Foiera (207-75, agency: Interperformances) replied with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Paolo Busetto (192-96) added 10 points in the effort for Rimini. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Faenza moved-up to seventh place in B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Rimini. Faenza will face higher ranked Lecco (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
