Regular Season Round 5: United - 36ers 101-84

Date: November 4, 2017
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Adelaide 36ers (4-4) against fourth ranked United (4-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Adelaide 36ers were defeated by United in Melbourne 101-84. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when United made 8 blocks. American point guard Casper Ware (178-90, college: Long Beach St.) nailed 21 points and 7 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import swingman Casey Prather (198-91, college: Florida) accounted for 25 points and 5 rebounds. The former international power forward Daniel Johnson (210-88, college: Pepperdine) came up with 23 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and international swingman Mitch Creek (195-92) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Adelaide 36ers in the defeat. Five United and four Adelaide 36ers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. United moved-up to third place. Loser Adelaide 36ers dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. United will meet at home bottom-ranked Kings (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Adelaide 36ers will play against Illawarra Hawks (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
