Very expected game when 12th ranked Savonese (1-4) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Palermo (5-1) 76-63 on Saturday. Palermo made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Savonese turnovers. Lithuanian center Ieva Preskienyte (193-93, agency: ProDep Management) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Liliana Miccio (178-89) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Four Palermo players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Faidra Skiadopoulou (192-90) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds and guard Lucrezia Zanetti (175-97) scored 19 points. Palermo moved-up to third place in A2. Newly promoted Savonese keeps the twelfth position with four games lost. Palermo will have a break next round. Savonese will play at home against Spezzina (#5) and hope to win that game.
