Regular Season Round 8: Antibes - ASVEL 91-73

An interesting game took place in Antibes where higher ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (5-3) was upset on the court of fourteenth ranked Olympique Antibes (3-5) 91-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Olympique Antibes. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket was better in fourth quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olympique Antibes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Jerel Blassingame (175-81, college: UNLV) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 assists and the other American import guard Vincent Sanford (193-90, college: Dayton, agency: Inception Sports) who added 21 points during the contest. Four Olympique Antibes players scored in double figures. Power forward Alpha Kaba (209-96, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and American swingman David Lighty (195-88, college: Ohio St.) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympique Antibes moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Gravelines. Loser ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket dropped to the third position with three games lost. Olympique Antibes will face higher ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play against JDA Dijon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
