Everything went according to plan when fifteenth ranked Samsun (3-4) beat on the road 17th ranked Socar Petkim (1-6) 85-78 on Saturday. Samsun looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for Bulgarian power forward Dejan Ivanov (205-86, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard David Holston (168-86, college: Chicago St.) helped adding 19 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side the former international Umit Sonkol (206-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Bulgarian power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, agency: BeoBasket) scored 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Samsun moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Socar Petkim lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the seventeenth position with six games lost. Samsun will face higher ranked Antalyaspor (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
