Regular Season Round 5: Unics-2 - Zenit 62-41

Very expected game when 7th ranked Zenit-2 (3-5) was smashed by third ranked Unics-2 (6-1) in Kazan 62-41 on Saturday. Unics-2 held Zenit-2 to an opponent 19.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Zenit-2 was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Sergey Krivykh (182-98) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Aleksey Pasechnik (197-97) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Forward Yuliy Kalinin (198-98) answered with 11 points and 7 rebounds and Nikita Tikhonov added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Zenit-2. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Unics-2 maintains third place with 6-1 record behind leader Khimki-2. Zenit-2 lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Unics-2 will face bottom-ranked Avtodor-2 (#10) in Saratov in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zenit-2 will play at home against Enisey-2 (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
