Regular Season Round 8: Jena II - Treuchtlingen 74-87

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Jena II (0-7) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Treuchtlingen (6-1) 87-74 on Saturday. Treuchtlingen forced 23 Jena II turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Jena II was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Tim Eisenberger (197-91) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and forward Stefan Schmoll (196-89) who added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. Marco Rahn (201-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Jan Heber (187-98) scored 17 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Jena II's coach Christopher Schreiber let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Treuchtlingen have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in South-East, which they share with Gotha II. Loser Jena II still closes the standings with seven games lost. Treuchtlingen will face league's leader Vilsbiburg at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Jena II will play against Bamberg (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
