Regular Season Round 8: Wisla Krakow - AZS UMCS 75-66

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Wisla Krakow (7-1) beat at home 6th ranked AZS UMCS (3-4) 75-66 on Saturday. AZS UMCS trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 18-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 66-75 at the end of the game. They outrebounded AZS UMCS 42-25 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Wisla Krakow especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Jamaican-American point guard Maurita Reid (172-85, college: Miami, FL) who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists and Spanish guard Leonor Rodriguez-Manso (180-91, college: Florida St.) supported her with 27 points and 5 rebounds. Even 12 points and 9 assists by American guard Feyonda Fitzgerald (170-95, college: Temple) did not help to save the game for AZS UMCS. The former international center Marta Witkowska (193-88) added 17 points for the guests. Four AZS UMCS players scored in double figures. Wisla Krakow have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-1 record behind leader Artego Bydg. AZS UMCS lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. Wisla Krakow will meet AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#6) in the next round. AZS UMCS will play against Sleza Wroclaw and hope to secure a win.
