There was an upset when higher ranked Unicaja Malaga (4-3) was edged at home by fourteenth ranked Baskonia (3-4) 73-72 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 24-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Quite impressive performance for German center Johannes Voigtmann (211-92) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 12 rebounds. Georgian Tornike Shengelia (206-91) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Ray McCallum (190-91, college: Detroit Mercy) added 10 points and 4 assists in the effort for Unicaja Malaga. Five Unicaja Malaga players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Baskonia moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Unicaja Malaga dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Baskonia will face Joventut (#14) in Badalona in the next round.
