Regular Season Round 7: Sammic ISB - Caceres 79-74

Very expected game in Azpeitia where 12th ranked Caceres Basket (2-5) was defeated by eighth ranked Sammic ISB (4-3) 79-74 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Caceres Basket trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 24-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 74-79 at the end of the game. Sammic ISB made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. It was a great evening for Canadian guard Joe De-Ciman (198-94, college: Colorado St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points. Point guard Gaizka Maiza (191-96) helped adding 11 points and 8 assists. Sammic ISB's coach Lorenzo Encinas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side point guard Guillermo Corrales (180-95) responded with 13 points and 8 assists and Nigerian-American center Olajide Keshinro (203-90, college: Mercy, agency: Duran International) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Caceres Basket players scored in double figures. Sammic ISB moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Caceres Basket dropped to the thirteenth position with five games lost. Sammic ISB will face higher ranked Melilla Baloncesto (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Caceres Basket will play against Leyma Basquet (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
