Regular Season Round 5: CSKA - Athletic Sofia 68-84

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Sofia: Athletic Sofia (#1) and CSKA (#3). CSKA was crushed at home by 16 points 68-84 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The former international forward Stanislav Slaveykov (198-86) stepped up and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and Filip Kamenov (200-95) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Athletic Sofia's coach Nikolay Hadjiev allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Ivaylo Tonev (198-99) responded with 20 points and Andy Francis (193-99) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Newly promoted Athletic Sofia maintains first place in A with 4-0 record. CSKA at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Athletic Sofia will play against Vidabasket (#7) in Vidin in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. CSKA will play on the road against Balkan 2 (#5) in Botevgrad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
