Regular Season Round 6: Champville - Moutahed 69-58

Date: November 7, 2017
The game between Top Four teams took place in Dik El Mehdi. Top-ranked host Champville (6-0) defeated 3rd ranked Al Moutahed (4-2) 69-58. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Moutahed. The game was mostly controlled by Champville. Al Moutahed was better in fourth quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Champville brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American guard Brandon Young (193-91, college: De Paul, agency: Two Points) notched 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international forward Fadi El-Khatib (198-79) supported him with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Champville players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists by American forward Ricardo Powell (199-83, college: S.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Al Moutahed. His fellow American import power forward Darian Townes (208-84) added 15 points and 17 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Champville have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Al Moutahed at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Sagesse. Champville will play against Homenetmen (#3) in Beirut in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Al Moutahed will play at home against the league's second-placed Al Riyadi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
