Regular Season Round 8: Mineros - Toros 81-76

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Toros (2-6) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Mineros (5-3) 81-76. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The winners were led by American guard Eric McClellan (193-93, college: Gonzaga, agency: KMG Sports Management) who scored that evening 19 points and Panamanian center Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) supported him with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Mineros' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by Puerto Rican center Jorge-Bryan Diaz (210-89, college: Nebraska) did not help to save the game for Toros. International forward Idris Alvarado (196-91) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the guests. Four Mineros and five Toros players scored in double figures. They have a solid three-game winning streak. Mineros moved-up to second place, which they share with Fuerza Regia and Capitanes. Toros lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. Mineros' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Fuerza Regia in Monterrey and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toros will play at home against Correcaminos (#5) and hope to win that game.
