Regular Season Round 8: Santos - Panteras 87-74

Date: November 7, 2017
The game with biggest result difference took place in San Luis Potosi. Local Santos (4-4) beat 9th ranked Panteras (2-4) 87-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panteras. Santos made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Panteras 37-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. Santos players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by American-Dominican Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and international forward Irwin Avalos (201, college: Dallas Baptist) supported him with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Four Santos players scored in double figures. Even 21 points by American power forward Michael Glover (203-87, college: Iona) did not help to save the game for Panteras. His fellow American import point guard Jaron Martin (178, college: Cal-Irvine) added 16 points and 5 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Aaguacateros. Panteras at the other side dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Santos will have a break next round. Panteras will play at home against Capitanes (#4) and hope to win that game.
