Regular Season Round 12: CDU Catolica - Puente Alto 105-83

There was a minor upset in Santiago where one of their biggest challengers Puente Alto (5-7) was crushed by sixth ranked Universidad Catolica (4-9) 105-83 on Wednesday. Universidad Catolica dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Puente Alto's 40. Universidad Catolica looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Puente Alto's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Aaron Nelson (203-91, college: S.Indiana) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Terrance Motley (201-91, college: Sam Houston St.) chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan forward Juan Coronado (203-90, college: Liberty) who recorded 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Jerome Hill (198-94, college: Gardner-Webb) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Universidad Catolica moved-up to fourth place, which they share with CD Castro. Puente Alto lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. Universidad Catolica will face league's leader Espanol de Talca on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Puente Alto will play against the league's second-placed Los Leones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
