Regular Season Round 7: Myrtia - Aquimisa LZ 70-66

Bottom-ranked Zamorano (0-7) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to fourth ranked Myrtia (5-2) 70-66 on Wednesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zamorano won third quarter 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Myrtia made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. American center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Italian-Argentinian swingman Juan-Ignacio Jasen (196-85) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Point guard Javier Hernandez (182-92) produced 14 points and 4 assists and forward Adrian Mendez (195-93) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four Zamorano players scored in double figures. Zamorano's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Myrtia moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Zamorano at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Myrtia will meet CB Granada (#5) on the road in the next round. Zamorano will play against the league's leader Albacete (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
