Regular Season Round 9: Fuerza Regia - Mineros 105-100

An interesting game for Fuerza Regia (6-3) which hosted in Monterrey 3rd placed Mineros (5-4). Second ranked Fuerza Regia managed to get a 5-point victory 105-100. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mineros. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Mineros 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Fuerza Regia players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists. International forward Juan Toscano (198-93, college: Marquette, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and American forward Andy Panko (203-77, college: Lebanon Valley, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Eric McClellan (193-93, college: Gonzaga, agency: KMG Sports Management) with 41 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the former international Noe Alonzo (200-83, college: Grand Canyon) scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Fuerza Regia keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Soles and Capitanes. Newly promoted Mineros dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Fuerza Regia will again play against Mineros (#5) in the next round. Mineros will have a break next round.
